What is OGTAP/APTUS?

Diverse group

OGTAP (Oil and Gas Technical Apprentice Programme) is a prestigious apprenticeship training scheme. This year, OGTAP has been rebranded with a new name and identity, APTUS, meaning to adapt, to adjust and to be prepared. This reflects the evolution of both the programme and the entire industry as the energy transition gathers pace. During 2024 we will roll-out the new brand, APTUS, in stages to replace the current OGTAP brand. If you apply this year, you will be in the first cohort of APTUS programme apprentices!

OPITO manage the programme on behalf of the operators – these are companies who own installations and produce oil and gas.

Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) manage the programme on behalf of the contractors – these are companies who provide a service to the operators which includes the provision of technician personnel.

Apprentices will either be part of the programme under OPITO or ECITB.
